Many of us on the coach heading towards Bristol and British Aerospace based in Filton were anticipating a chance to climb on board Concorde but it turned out that there is so much more to see and do.
Of course Concorde herself is the highlight of the visit.
Being able to see the actual cockpit – so cramped and far too many dials – and to see how narrow the passenger area was came as a surprise.
Other aviation vehicles were also on exhibit:
A guided tour was so worthwhile A replica of the Bristol Scout Bristol Britannia – The Whispering Giant Bloodhound Anti-Aircraft Missile Mark II 1958-1991
There were even more vehicles to see which do not travel in the air:
A half restored tram – the other side is as found when it was being used as a greenhouse! Bristol Lorry – built in 1920 by the Bristol Tramways & Carriage Company
As anticipated the outing attractive a good number of men but the women also had an excellent day out. In fact, there is so much to see and take in that a second visit would be of benefit.
