Cruising to a Mount

The day started with a coach trip to Plymouth Dockyard where we had been booked for a cruise around the Barbican, Devon. Disembarking at Mount Edgcumbe House in Cornwall. The House is the former home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe. Set in Grade I Cornish Gardens within 865 acres Country Park on the Rame Peninsula, South East Cornwall. It was first built in the 1500s and restored after World War II and is jointly owned by Cornwall and Plymouth City Councils.

There is a slight climb from the harbour-side up to the house but there is a buggy service (not well advertised but was functioning regularly during our visit). There are plenty of places to find refreshments although many of our group commented that it took a long time to be served which meant the visit to the house had to be curtailed. Many members intend to visit again so that they can give proper attention to the beautiful décor in the building.
