Various wild flowers and butterflies were pointed out to us along with the instruction to keep our eyes open for basking adders. We weren't sure whether we wanted to see the adders or not but it transpired that 20 people stomping around the countryside warned them of our approach so they made themselves scarce. We were thrilled, however, to have a close encounter with two young kestrels who were living under the eaves of a barn. One was rather shy but the other kept its eyes on us as we stared back. They look to be ready to fledge so we were very lucky that they were still at home. Various wild flowers and butterflies were pointed out to us along with the instruction to keep our eyes open for basking adders.
